Riding Tips

Basic Information
  • Be sure to bring water - especially in the warmer months - bring 2 bottles.
  • Long rides - Make sure you have something to eat and energy drink in your bottle.
  • Dress in layers - during winter, the mornings are cool, but it will warm up as it gets later. If you’re riding in the warm weather, start your ride early.
  • Bring a map - there are several free entertainment guides available that have maps.
  • Wear a helmet - it could save your life, or prevent serious injury. There are only two types of riders – those who have fallen, and those who will.
  • Stay Hydrated - drink fluids on a regular basis
  • Sunscreen - stay healthy; don’t cook your skin.

Personal Equipment Needs

  • HELMET

  Must be worn on all rides.

  • MITTS or GLOVES 

  Are important protective gear.

  • LIGHTS

  Must be utilised whenever riding in the dark. Be   visible to oncoming cars. Front and Back.

  • REFLECTORS:

  Worn in such a way that they are visible to traffic.

          (belts or ankles)

  • ROAD WORTHINESS:

  Bicycles and equipment must be maintained.

  • CELL PHONE

  Should be carried for safety in the event of a   breakdown, crash or becoming lost etc. 

  Please do not answer a cell phone when riding.
